Market day is an important fixture on the calendar no matter where in the world you are. They give locals something to look forward to every week.
Rotorua Morning Market
Perhaps the most popular of markets to local residents in Rotorua is the Kuirau Park Flea Market. This is held every Saturday morning throughout the year and for hundreds of people it is the ultimate way to kick-start the weekend.
Located in the centre of downtown Rotorua, just a 2 minute drive from your motel at Coachman Rotorua, the Kuirau Park Flea Market boasts a wide range of unique NZ arts and crafts, clothes, fresh flowers, antiques, books, quality food hampers and of course delicious locally made food.
Many will head to the Flea Market for breakfast, plus you will find freshly made Rewena bread (Maori bread) and other Maori food, as well as a range of foods from Indian, Asian and Latin American culture.
The Kuirau Park Flea Market runs from 7am – 1pm every Saturday
Rotorua Night Market
If you a market-going enthusiast and either live in Rotorua or just visiting the city, you’ll want to head along to the Rotorua Night Market – held every Thursday from 5pm – 9.30pm.
Located on Tutanekai Street, just around the corner from where the Saturday morning market is held, the Night Market is a must for those looking for a wonderful range of locally made produce. You can buy everything from artisan cheeses and pasta, to coffee, mussel fritters and olive oils.

Commonly known as ‘The Craft Market’ to Rotorua locals, the Soundshell Market is in fact the largest of all of Rotorua’s markets with stalls both indoors and outdoors.
Held on Rotorua’s lakefront at the north end of Tutanekai Street, the Soundshell Market features a huge range of hand-crafted products such as knitted garments, wood carvings, soap, jewellery and stone carvings. Stalls at the market also sell parallel imported products, as well as second hand books, plants and antiques.
The Soundshell Market runs from 9am – 3pm every Sunday, with some additional stall days on public holiday weekends.
